Our readers may have seen a recent review of the Kodak Zi8 by the Boston Globe where it received high praise for everything… except it’s name. “When Kodak needed a name for its new pocket video camera, its marketing geniuses came up with something dreadful: the Zi8.”
It appears the Boston Globe wasn’t the only publication that wasn’t too thrilled with the choice. So, Kodak is asking readers. Readers should visit http://1000words.kodak.com/ or send a “tweet’’ to @JeffreyHayzlett, with the hashtag #nameAKodak to suggest names for Kodak’s new pocket video camera which will be revealed at CES.
Folks have until Monday, August 24, 2009 at 6am ET to post and tweet their proposed names. After Monday Kodak will randomly choose 100 people who have offered up name suggestions and those 100 people will receive a “not so cleverly” named but awesomely performing Kodak Zi8! How cool is that?
The ultimate and final name-generating-genius whose product name Kodak chooses will be sent to Las Vegas for the 2010 CES show for the unveiling of the new pocket video camera! The story of this name concept will also be included in the video camera’s packaging materials!
