The trend in today’s consumer video cameras is to store the captured video on memory cards instead of tape. Lexar Media has a new line of memory cards designed for video cameras called the Lexar Full-HD video memory cards.
The cards are available in Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) as well as Memory Stick PRO Duo in high capacities with fast transfer speeds. They are designed to capture extended as well as standard and high definition 1080 resolution video.
Users will like the high-speed transfer abilities of the cards when downloading to a computer. Once the data is downloaded and backed up, the cards can be erased and reused.
The memory sticks come in 4GB ($34.99) and 8GB ($49.99) capacities, good for respectively recording up to 90 and 180 minutes. The SDHC cards are available in 4GB ($29.99) and 8GB ($49.99) sizes but also offer a 16GB ($89.99) capacity. They are good for recording 90, 180, and 360 minutes of video respectively.
The cards work just as well in still digital cameras, offering the same storage sizes as well as the fast download speeds.
All the new Lexar cards come with a five-year limited lifetime warranty, storage cases and writeable labels for organization.
Acoustibuds from Burton Technologies are inexpensive, but offers a lot of solutions for active earbud users.
Typically most MP3 and portable media players come with a pair of earbuds, which refuse to stay in your ears, especially when using while doing athletic activities. The Acoustibuds fit over most of these earbuds and are made of flexible, hypoallergenic silicone rubber with 5 or 6 fins.
The fins are attached to a cover, which fits over the existing earbud for a secure fit. The design allows the sound to flow through the cover into your ear.
The unique fins are flexible for comfort and stay in the ear canal even when you’re doing athletic activities.
They are available in black or white for $12.99
It’s hard to find someone on an airplane not using an iPod, with the possible exception of the pilot. Watching movies for any length of time can be kind of annoying because you have to hold mobile media player for a long period of time. If this describes you (and me) then give the iFlyz a try.
This is a hands-free device designed for use on a plane. It can easily be attached to the tray attached to most airline seats. It can also attach to some armrests, seats or magazine compartments on the seat in front of you.
One end of the device has the clip to secure it; the other has a suction cup to attach to a media player for long periods of use. In between is a flexible gooseneck to angle it for viewing in any direction.
For the most part, there is no setup necessary except for attaching the player and securing it to a solid, steady object. Since it measures 5.5 inches long and 2.5 inches wide, and weighs only two ounces, it really won’t get in the way of your carry-on luggage.

Apple recently announced a new iPod shuffle with the controls for the device on the earbuds instead of the player. In conjunction with that, V-MODA announced that it is developing a revolutionary headphone line compatible with the new music player.
The new V-MODA Audio Volume Control headphone line is due out this spring and will work with the new shuffle as well as the latest generation of iPods and Macbooks, which already support the volume control functionality and in-line.
“By leveraging Apple’s latest features, our new AVC headphone line will allow Apple consumers to enjoy their new iPod shuffle with convenience, style, and ease,” said Val Kolton, V-MODA CEO and founder, independent DJ and producer in a recent press release. “We’re proud of our long-standing relationship with Apple and what we’ve forged together, and we look forward to creating more high-fidelity, high-fashion products in the future.”
With the VoiceOver feature, the new shuffle can speak song titles, artists and play list names. To get this information(and battery usage) on demand, users just press a button on the headphone controls.
